Newsworthy: Toni Bowers to Present "What's the Difference?: Women's Studies, Feminist Studies, Gender Studies"
Toni Bowers, Associate Professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania, will give a talk titled, “What's the Difference?: Women's Studies, Feminist Studies, Gender Studies,” Wednesday, March 21, 3:00 p. m. in the auditorium of the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. Her talk will discuss the politics, implications, and different effects of three terms used on university campuses: “Feminist Studies,” “Women's Studies,” and “Gender Studies.” There will be 3 respondents, Ruth Crocker, Director of the Women's Studies Program at Auburn University, Penelope Ingram, Associate Professor in the Department of English, and Joanne Tong, Assistant Professor in the Department of English.

Mary Ann Rygiel's Article Published
Mary Ann Rygiel's article, "Belgian Settings and Colonialism in Conrad and Malouf," appeared in the December 2006 (Vol. 20, No. 2) issue of Antipodes.
Brigitte Demasi to Present MTPC Portfolio
Brigitte Demasi will give a formal presentation of her MTPC portfolio today, 10:00-11:00, in Haley 3143. The presentation is open to all members of the university community. MTPC students are urged to attend.
Call for Abstracts for the Graduate Student Colloquium
Please remember to submit your abstract for the graduate research colloquium by today. You may send your abstract to any of the committee members: Monita Bell, Lacy Marschalk, Miranda Morrison, or Mary Ann Rygiel. One to two paragraphs plus a title will be sufficient for the committee to get a sense of the appropriate panel placement for your topic. Please indicate whether you need to be in a TEC room. The colloquium will take place on March 10.
