COSAM Outstanding GTA Awards

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) are a fundamentally important part of COSAM’s instructional mission, reflecting a long-standing acknowledgment of the importance of GTA excellence within our College’s teaching laboratories and recitation sections. In recognition of this achievement, the COSAM Outstanding GTA Award was established. Up to THREE (3) awards are given annually from nominations received from the 5 COSAM departments, and are awarded during the spring term at the COSAM Honors Convocation.

Nomination Procedure
Each department may nominate up to TWO (2) GTAs for this award. Nominations are typically made by a faculty member (e.g., instructor of record in the GTA’s assigned course/s), laboratory coordinator, department chair, or the chair of the department awards committee. Nomination packets must include:

  • Nominating letter
  • The nominee's CV, including the full record of courses taught at Auburn
  • Complete set of teaching evaluations
  • 2 or 3 letters of support (no more than 4 letters total), including letters from students. Letters must address the nominee’s teaching performance.

It is the responsibility of the candidate's sponsor/nominator to assemble all nominating materials. These should be combined into a single PDF file and uploaded to the awards web site at the link below by 4:45 pm on March 1, 2018.
