Vision:

The Student Ambassadors for The Office of Inclusion, Equity and Diversity within the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) believes that true innovation results from individuals of different race, ethnicity, gender, differently abled, status, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds collectively working together to solve problems. We create an environment where everyone’s differences are not only acknowledged but celebrated under the believe that we are all unique and have something to contribute. Through the continued improvement of diverse representation at all levels and creation of an inclusive environment that fosters intellectual creativity, our Ambassadors are committed to promoting colleague engagement through different events to increase awareness of social injustices. We understand and seek to diminish inequities on Auburn’s Campus in the STEM fields to help individuals grow both intellectually and personally through meaningful diverse experiences.

Mission:

Our mission is to cultivate a diverse STEM workforce by reducing barriers and promoting scientific progress through full inclusion across the social spectrum on Auburn’s campus and the community around. It is our mission to attract, develop, and retain the best and brightest individuals from all different backgrounds by providing the necessary resources for them to succeed. Our goal is to bring awareness and understanding that diversity is broad-based, highlighting the identity and experiences of groups that have been historically underrepresented in STEM education. Individually and collectively we critically examine and challenge our biases, assumptions, institutional structures and worldviews to support a more inclusive, equitable and diverse environment that brings life to our vision.
