Efforts in the Duin laboratory have been focused on understanding the reaction mechanism of important metalloenzymes. The topics presented will included methyl-coenzyme M reductase, an enzyme involved in methane production and/or activation; IspG and IspH, two enzymes involved in isoprene synthesis and the target for drug development; and heterodisulfide reductase, an enzyme performing electron bifurcation.
