Abstract:  By a Hausdorff arc we mean a compact connected Hausdorff space with exactly two non-cutpoints.  Suppose that each of \(A\) and \(B\) is a Hausdorff arc and \(M\) is a hereditarily indecomposable subcontinuum of \(A × B\).  Then \(M\) is a metric continuum and each of its projections onto \(A\) and \(B\) are metric arcs.
