The Graduate School and the Graduate Student Council are pleased to host the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for graduate students.
3MT is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland in Australia. Graduate students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. Competitors exceeding three minutes are disqualified. 3MT is not an exercise in trivializing or "dumbing down" research, but challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience.
Competitors are permitted a single static PowerPoint slide with no electronic media or props. Graduate students will be divided into two categories: one for master’s and educational specialist students and another for doctoral students. Prizes will be awarded to the winner, runner-up, and audience’s choice in each category.
Registration, full competition rules, and more information about 3MT can be found on the competition’s website at http://grad.auburn.edu/3MT. For questions, please contact Chris Anthony at firstname.lastname@example.org or 334-844-2160.
