Description: Learn to kayak on the Coosa River. This is a trip that a daring beginner will enjoy. The river is gentle but there is one stretch of Class 3 rapids to make the trip exciting. So, you might get wet if you have never been kayaking before. We will be on the river about 4.0-4.5 hours counting our lunch break.
Date: Sept 17, 2011
Time: Leave Auburn at 8am arrive back around 4-5pm
Transportation: Let us know if you are willing to drive and have any spaces available
Meeting Location: Meet in the parking lot of the Auburn Hotel Conference Center across College St. from the AU library. Meet near the side door no later than 7:55am
River Location: About an hour from Auburn
Equipment Rental Cost: Kayaks will be rented on-site. Kayak for one person = $25. Kayak for two = $40 ($20 per person)
Food and Drink: Not provided. Pack yourself a lunch with plenty of water or other beverage.
Recommended Items to Bring: A small pack to carry your lunch, sun screen and sun glasses. If you bring a camera it should be sealed in a waterproof pouch. Wear shoes that comfortable fit and can be worn in water. Flip flops are not recommended since they may come off if you tip over.
Pre-requisites: You must be able to swim. Everyone will be required to wear a life preserver while in the kayak. No Children under 10.
