Below is a message by Dr. George Flowers, Dean of the Graduate School:
"It has come to my attention that a number of you have expressed concern about the future of the tuition fellowship program for graduate assistants. I understand that there are a lot of rumors currently circulating and I am seeking to set the record straight.
"It is true that discussions are currently being had with regard to possible changes in the tuition fellowship program. The objective of these discussions is to align the policies of the AU tuition fellowship program with those of our peer and aspirant peer institutions. However, the proposed changes are modest. Tuition support for graduate assistants will continue to be a major part of the benefit package for GTA, GRA, and GA appointments. The senior administration most definitely recognizes the importance of this benefit to our graduate assistants and it will be maintained.
"In addition, please be assured that Auburn University will stand by all current commitments to our graduate assistants. You have nothing to worry about with regard to your tuition support!"
Note: Dr. George Flowers will be meeting with the Graduate Student Council on September 28th and will take questions at that time. If you have specific questions about the future of the tuition fellowship program, please contact your departmental senators so that they may bring them up during this meeting.
