Applications and letters of recommendation for the Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program are due January 26, 2015.
Although not common, fellowship renewal for a second year is possible. A new application must be submitted and a written report or copy of an article submitted for publication must be included with the application.
Co-op students who have completed their co-op work obligations by the end of Spring semester may apply for a fellowship beginning in the Summer semester.
Because the time commitment expected for the UGR Fellows is significant, fellow are not permitted to hold additional research fellowships from other schools and colleges at Auburn University. However, fellows can apply for research fellowships sequentially. For instance, a student could hold a UGR fellowship beginning in the Summer Semester and ending in the Spring Semester, and then hold a CMB research fellowship for the following Summer Semester.
Students receiving financial aid are welcome to compete for an UGR fellowship. Specific questions regarding the stipend and the student’s financial aid ceiling should be directed to the Director of Undergraduate Research.
Additional funds may be available through the OVPR, the student’s department or college, or the Honors College. The Office of Undergraduate Research will not provide additional funds beyond the amount of the fellowship.
Fellows are permitted to conduct a portion of their research at an off campus site, such as a federal laboratory, other university, library, or field site. A local mentor, however, is still required.
Letters of recommendation should be sent via e-mail attachment (Word or PDF) directly from the referee to the Director of Undergraduate Research (email@example.com). They are due at the same time as the application.
