Short Bio

Jada Kohlmeier, Ph.D., is a Professor and Program Coordinator for Social Sciences Education. Her research interests focus on student and teacher learning. Dr. Kohlmeier has published articles related to secondary students historical, ethical, and legal reasoning. She has also conducted professional development with scaffolded lesson study and published several articles reporting the potential and challenges of this model.

Dr. Kohlmeier grew up in Sabetha, Kansas, the daughter of an administrative assistant (mom) and high school physical education teacher and basketball coach (dad), which influenced her love of teaching. She is married with two children. She used to enjoy hobbies of playing piano and organ, but now mostly supports her kids’ piano practice sports dabbling. She enjoys reading about history and politics and the occasional novel. She and her family hike often and try to go camping once a year. They love playing sports and board games together, and she and Mark are dedicated season ticket holders to the Auburn University theater.
