Dr. Butler’s core value is to “treat others as you would like to be treated.” Dr. Butler cofounded the first Study Abroad program in the College of Business in 1996 taking 30 students to Eastern Europe. Dr. Butler has worked with the Business Engineering Technology program with joint programs between business and engineering schools in the United Kingdom and India.
Currently, he is the Executive Director of Global Programs in the Harbert College of Business with 350 students annually studying global business in distant lands. He is the holder of the Thomas Walter Chair of Technology Management and Marketing. Dr. Butler is the recipient of 27 teaching and two research awards. He earned his Ph.D. in marketing and international business operations from the University of South Carolina. He holds MBA and Finance degrees from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Butler studied at La Universidad de Oviedo in Spain and La Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in Argentina as a Rotary Fellow (1981). In 2013 he was a Fulbright Fellow to Croatia and Serbia. Dr. Butler has extensive experience across a range of global and domestic business enterprises.
