Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth A. "Allan" McDonald is the Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 005 at Auburn University. He serves as head of the university's Aerospace Studies department, instructs senior and sophomore courses on national security affairs and airpower history, supervises five faculty and staff members, and has overall responsibility for training and mentoring more than 100 students preparing to become Air Force officers.
Lt Col McDonald received his commission in 1999 through AFROTC at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a Master Combat Systems Officer (CSO), and has flown over 2,000 hours, serving as an instructor electronic warfare officer/CSO and flight examiner in the RC-135U and T-1A aircraft. He has combat hours during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan supporting Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Lt Col McDonald is a Joint Qualified Officer.
