Named for Dean John Jenkins Wilmore, who served Auburn for 55 years as an instructor, professor and dean, Wilmore Laboratories serves the research and teaching needs of the college. The 65,000-square-foot facility, built in 1948, houses the academic offices for Materials Engineering, while providing laboratory and graduate student office space for materials, mechanical, civil, chemical and aerospace engineering.
