Minutes of the Steering Committee Meeting

In Attendance:  Claire Crutchley, Mary Ellen Mazey, Russ Muntifering, Jim Wright, Dennis DeVries, Larry Crowley, Kathryn Flynn

Absent:  David Shannon, Bill Hames, Bob Locy

--The meeting was called to order at 3:30 PM

--The minutes of the 26 April 2010 Steering Committee meeting were approved without change. 

--We talked about upcoming schedules and the need to meet again before the June Senate meeting on 8 June 2010.  The next meeting was originally scheduled for 31 May 2010, but that is the Memorial Day holiday, so we will have our next Steering Committee meeting in 1 week, on Monday 24 May. 

--We then discussed the list of faculty handbook items that were considered at the May Senate meeting.  Three of these items were not considered due to a loss of numbers required for a vote, so these three will be brought to the June Senate meeting for consideration.  

--We discussed the revised procedures for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer positions from the Non-Tenure Track Instructors Committee.  There were several questions and a number of edits that will be returned to the committee for consideration.  If the committee can get the revised document to the Steering Committee by next Monday, we will include it on the June Senate meeting agenda. 

--We discussed the long list of potential items for the June Senate meeting, and will continue this discussion at next Monday’s Steering Committee meeting. 

--The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 PM.
