Minutes of the Steering Committee Meeting
23 November 2009

In Attendance:  Kathryn Flynn, Dennis DeVries, Emmett Winn, Mary Ellen Mazey, John Mason (non-member, Vice-President for Research), Carl Pinkert (non-member, Associate Vice-President for Research). 

Absent:  Russ Muntifering, Bob Locy, Claire Crutchley, Jim Wright, Larry Crowley, Bill Hames, David Shannon

--The meeting was called to order at 3:32 PM

--The minutes from the 2 November 2009 meeting will be approved at the next Steering Committee meeting. 

--Kathryn introduced John Mason.  He presented a handout of a presentation that has been distributed both to the faculty attending the “new faculty” orientation, and to the members of the newly established Research Advisory Board (at last week’s initial meeting).  John Mason provided an overview of the handout, particularly relative to the vision and direction for research at Auburn.  We discussed this document and various components of it for the duration of the meeting. 

--The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 PM.
