Present: James Goldstein (Chair), Dan Svyantek (Chair-Elect),  Larry Teeter (Immediate-Past Chair), Xing Ping Hu (Secretary), Donald Mulvaney (Secretary-Elect), Emmett Winn, Emily Myers, Lucretia Tripp, Lisa Kensler, Jared Russell, Trace Donald (Office of Accessibility)

Absent: Timothy Boosinger

The first item of business was approval of minutes from August 4, 2016.

Trace Donald from Office of Accessibility was invited to talk about detail steps that can be used to help faculty be compliant with American Disabilities Act (ADA) with Canvas. Trace presented a presentation entitled “Six ways to make Canvas course more accessible”, and answered questions and concerns from Steering members.

The next item was approval of agenda for Senate meeting of 8/23.

Larry conveyed a request from David Held to add Jason Bond (Biology) to Ad Hoc Committee of Fringe Benefit Charges on Summer Salaries Paid from Extramural Grants. The request needs Rules’ approval.

Items for future presentation at Steering and Senate meeting were suggested and discussed.
