Room Selection Overview
Room Selection is the process where students can select their own room, along with their confirmed roommate(s), during a designated timeframe through the housing student portal, as space is available. Access to Room Selection will be granted via your Room Selection timeslot. Room Selection timeslots are sent to students Auburn email starting March 1. Timeslots are determined by your housing application submission date (i.e., when the housing application fee was submitted). as space is available. Room Selection occurs within the housing application. After logging in to the housing student portal, click on “Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 Housing Application” and choose the appropriate term to relaunch your new applicant application. Once your timeslot opens, you are able to proceed to the Room Selection portion of the housing application and will have access to room selection until it closes on April 19.
Room Selection and Roommate(s)
To be assigned with a roommate(s) you must be confirmed before you start room selection. Once you start room selection, you are unable to assign or pull-in a roommate(s). We recommend matching with a roommate before your room selection timeslot. Please visit our roommate selection page to learn more about how to form roommate groups.
During room selection, any roommate can make room assignments for the roommate group. We recommend the roommate with the earliest timeslot to make the room assignment for the group. In order to assign all roommates, you must add all rooms to your cart and select all bed spaces. All roommates will receive a room confirmation email to their Auburn email account once the group has been assigned. Roommates with later timeslots will have to wait until their timeslot opens to proceed to the assignment confirmation prepayment page. However, these roommates must make the assignment confirmation prepayment prior to May 1 to ensure they will not be dropped from their assignment.
Room Selection Confirmation
Once you have selected your space, you will need to confirm your room assignment by paying a $200 non-refundable assignment confirmation prepayment. This payment serves as credit for your fall rental rate if you attend Auburn University and reside in on-campus housing. The deadline to pay this fee and/or cancel your housing is May 1. Students that do not make this payment will be dropped from their room assignment after the May 1 deadline. Several email reminders will be sent to students Auburn email prior to that date if the payment is still outstanding. It is very important to check your Auburn email and reach out to us if you feel you are receiving these emails in error.
Manual Room Assignments
For students that were eligible for room selection: If you fail to select a room by the time the portal closes, you will be considered on standby and manually assigned a room as space is available. Important Note: Therefore, if you do not select a space and you find other housing, it is important that you cancel your housing application, so you are not manually assigned housing as we work through the standby list.
For students that apply for housing April 18 or after: Students that apply for housing April 18 or after will be placed on standby and will be manually assigned a room as space is available.
Students manually assigned after May 1 do not have to pay the assignment confirmation prepayment but do have to cancel by the cancellation deadline listed in their assignment email.
Important Information about Room Assignments and Move-In
When you select your space or receive your manual assignment, be aware that some buildings may have later move-in dates than others due to renovation projects or other reasons (i.e., summer residence hall).The earliest move-in date available for the following locations are listed below.
Talon Hall (Village)- Early move-in starting on August 8, available for regular move-in.
Boyd Hall (Hill)- Early move-in starting on August 7, available for regular move-in.
The Union- Early move-in starting on August 7, available for regular move-in.
Please note that these dates are subject to change based off construction schedules and project completion dates.
