Quarantine & Isolation Housing

We at Auburn University Housing understand that we are living in unknown and stressful times, and we want to do our part to provide you with the most up-to-date information should you need to quarantine or isolate on campus. The information below highlights the quarantine/isolation process and includes links to important information and resources.

After a student is designated as needing to quarantine or isolate, Auburn University Housing sends them an intent form where they can choose if they will be going home or need on-campus quarantine/isolation housing. If a student intends to quarantine/isolate on campus, they will be sent an email with their temporary assignment and further information regarding staying in quarantine or isolation housing.

Residents in 160 Ross and the Village and South Donahue residence halls are able to quarantine in place in their assigned room. Residents in the Hill, Cambridge and Quad residence halls will be relocated to quarantine housing in the Hill. Any resident who test positive for COVID-19 will be relocated to isolation housing in the Hill.

  • Quarantine housing is for those who have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Exposure is defined as being within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes of someone who has COVID-19. Even though you may not be experiencing symptoms or have tested positive, you still may develop COVID-19, as symptoms can appear anywhere from 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus.
  • Isolation housing is for those who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Students quarantining in place should see our Quarantine in Place Guide for more information about resources available and guidelines to follow while quarantining in place.

Students assigned to quarantine or isolation housing should see our Quarantine and Isolation Guide for more information about resources available and guidelines to follow while staying in quarantine or isolation housing.

Important Reminders:

  • Residents in quarantine or isolation housing should limit exposure to others and should not attend in-person classes or go to university buildings, except the residence hall where they are in quarantine or isolation.
  • Face coverings are required in all university buildings, including residence halls. Residents should wear a face covering any time they leave their assigned room.
  • Residents in quarantine or isolation are not allowed to host guests inside of the residence hall or their assigned space.
