Frequently Asked Questions

Your Tiger Card is the official Auburn University student and faculty/staff ID card. It is used to check out books at the university libraries, gain access to buildings or labs, events, and to pay for meals on campus through your dining plan (required). The Tiger Card is also used to access the Tiger Club Accounts (optional). Accounts for the required participation dining plan will already be established and funds will be available for all currently enrolled undergraduate students from the first day of class.

The new Tiger Card will utilize contactless technology. As new card readers are installed across campus, you will experience more convenience when purchasing items and gaining access to approved locations.

To validate your credentials, you will need to place your card within an inch of the center of the card reader.

New incoming students and students taking in-person classes during the 2021 summer semester will begin receiving their new Tiger Card this summer.

During in-person orientation, new incoming students will have the opportunity to get their new card.

Students enrolled in summer classes can begin going to the Tiger Card office and receive their new card.

Returning on-campus students for the 2021 fall semester should go to the Tiger Card office on or one business day before their move-in date.

Returning off-campus students for the 2021 fall semester can begin receiving their cards one week before classes begin.

Current/returning students with card swipe access to buildings will be contacted via email prior to those specific readers being replaced.

There is a $25 charge for all Tiger Cards; however, enrolled students will not be charged to upgrade to the new Tiger Card unless a student has misplaced their old Tiger Card.

If a student has misplaced their old Tiger Card and cannot turn it in when they receive their new card, the student will be charged $25 to their e-Bill.

New incoming students receiving a Tiger Card for the first time will be charged $25 to their e-Bill.

Students must show proof of identification from one of the following sources in order to obtain a new Tiger Card:

  1. Current driver’s license
  2. Current temporary driver’s license
  3. Passport
  4. Birth certificate (original or copy)
  5. Photo in the Auburn yearbook or other University publication identifying the individual
  6. In-person identification by an Auburn University employee showing his/her Auburn University Faculty/Staff ID Card
  7. Military ID

Only new incoming students may submit a photo to receive the new Tiger Card. Any photos that are submitted after the initial Tiger Card is produced will be rejected.

You are required to turn in your current Tiger Card in order to receive your new Tiger Card.

The new Tiger Card is at no additional cost to you. However, if you have misplaced your old card, there will be a $25 replacement fee that will be charged to your student e-Bill.

At this time, there is no deadline for current students to obtain their new Tiger Card.

No. Your mobile credential will now be used for access to all athletic events. You can find more information on setting up your Apple or Android mobile credential on our website.

Yes. The old Tiger Card will still be functional for all payment transactions and door access to areas that do not have the new contactless readers installed. However, once new readers are installed, students will be unable to swipe the old card on the new readers.
