VDI Instructions



COSAM Virtual Desktop (VDI) - Instructions

First-time Setup Instructions:

  1. Download the VMware Horizon Client (Do not use Safari) - https://auburn.edu/auinstall.

  2. For off-campus use, ensure you have DUO Multi-Factor Authentication set up. To setup DUO visit DUO Setup instructions. Please review the "Access Denied" Note below. Duo must be set to auto push to your mobile device.

Setup VMware Horizon client for On or Off-Campus use:

  1. Open the VMware Horizon Client.
  2. Click the "+" symbol to add a new connection.
  3. Enter "horizon.auburn.edu" for the connection server.
  4. Click the Connect button
  5. After entering your Auburn Username: username@auburn.edu and Passcode: Auburn Password, you will be required to answer your DUO 2-Factor prompt.  If you do not get this prompt, then the connection will fail. For additional information about DUO 2-Factor Authentication, please visit https://duo.auburn.edu.

NOTE: Getting "Access Denied" errors.

DUO 2-Factor needs to be configured to Automatically push prompts.  Select the "My Settings & Devices" option first at https://auburn.edu/2factor to change the "When I log in" setting, then click Save to make the change.

  • COSAM Desktop - This is the COSAM Windows 10 Desktop

  • GPU Development - DO NOT USE

  • Windows - This is the OIT Provided Desktop, COSAM IT is unable to provide support for this desktop. https://auburn.service-now.com/it?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0000174

  • csm-"Application Name" - These applications can be run separately and do not require the launch of the full Windows 10 Desktop environment.
