Morgan Tatum
Dean's Medal: Physics
Morgan Tatum will graduate summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in physics and a minor in Asian studies. As a physics major, Morgan has conducted research with the Auburn Source of Attosecond Pulses Laboratory each semester and has studied and worked in the Department of Geosciences for two summers.
In 2018, Morgan spent part of her summer in China learning about the culture and language. She hopes to use the skills she has accumulated through physics as well as Asian studies to contribute to the field of scientific knowledge and build connections and communicate knowledge across different cultures.
In her free time, Morgan enjoys painting, rock climbing, and yoga. Her involvement in the rock climbing community sparked an interest in sustainability and climate change.
With her degree in physics, Morgan hopes to enter an atmospheric sciences program at the graduate level to research climate change and pollution. With this knowledge, she hopes to find ways to assist minority and marginalized communities with such salient problems as pollution, rising water levels, or food and water scarcity, in addition to finding ways to mitigate the effects of climate change.
