EXTRA: Auburn University launches $1 billion “Because This is Auburn” campaign
Auburn University kicked off its $1 billion fundraising campaign, “Because This is Auburn,” on Saturday, April 18. The campaign aims to propel the university forward through a renewed commitment to its students, a continued promise to the state and a shared responsibility to the world.
As part of the overall campaign, the College of Sciences and Mathematics is committed to raising $30 million including the establishment of 50 new scholarships, two endowed professorships or faculty chairs, investment in our value-added outreach programs and $10 million to be used toward the construction of the Sciences and Mathematics Success Building, a state-of-the-art facility slated to replace Parker Hall and Allison Physics Laboratory.
COSAM promises to teach by providing an environment that ensures excellence; advance research by creating and discovering new knowledge; and promote outreach by developing educational collaboration locally, nationally and abroad. COSAM continues to adhere to these core values thanks to the generous contributions of our alumni, industry partners and friends of the college.
“Our students are the doctors, scientists and mathematicians of the future who will go on to contribute greatly to society,” said Dr. Scott Sprayberry ’93, COSAM campaign chair. “My life has been significantly changed because of my COSAM education, and I want others to have that same opportunity. Giving back is richly rewarding and benefits our students, faculty, programs and facilities for generations to come.”
As the future of sciences and mathematics, it is COSAM’s mission to support our students, faculty, programs and facilities while continuing our tradition of excellence. With your support, we can ensure the continued success of our college.
