COSAM consistently reflects high standards with students and faculty striving for success. Dean Roger Allen began as a professor of chemistry in 1928 and served as the Chairman of the Auburn University Faculty Athletic Committee with the 1967 A-Day Football Game dedicated in his honor. Former chemistry student Emory R. Solomon reached out to Dean Allen in a letter in 1988:
“Dr. Allen, while I was a student at Auburn, you had a great impact on my life,” the letter read.
“You would absolutely be amazed to know the hundreds of times during the past 53 years that I have thought of you. I won’t say that I have patterned my life after you, but I can certainly say that you were a great and good influence on my life. I want to thank you for this. I’m sure thousands of other Auburn students would like to do the same.”

And I just can’t say enough positive things about the physics faculty and the physics department.” Check out this future physics professor and remarkable student.
