Dr. F. Stephen Dobson has received the prestigious honor as a Gutenberg Chair, which only eight people were selected for in 2019. “It is a genuine honor to have a COSAM faculty recognized as a Gutenberg Chair,” shared Dean Nicholas J. Giordano. “This award showcases Steve Dobson’s contributions as an influential scientist and will allow him to further advance his research for future generations to build upon.” Find out more about this international recognition.
Students with an interest in physics had an opportunity to talk with faculty as well as other students at a social hour event. Learn more about how this new event is making it possible for students for share their passion for physics and connect with others.
From more than four dozen applications, eight new COSAM Leaders were selected. “I am proud to have so many excellent students interested in becoming COSAM Leaders,” explained Dr. Jack Feminella, associate dean for academic affairs. “Students who want to participate in extracurricular activities will continue to refine their soft skills, which will help them navigate professional or graduate school and be successful in their future careers.” Find out more about these exceptional COSAM students.

More than 500 people participated in the American Mathematical Society Conference at Auburn University with special sessions in almost 30 areas. Read more about the experience at this conference from researchers from other prominent universities.
“I think the culture of COSAM is pretty encouraging overall and I really feel like it affects the students,” she said. “I always feel like everybody is kind of working together as a team and I have never felt a competitive atmosphere.
