First Auburn student awarded prestigious U.S. Department of Energy fellowshipBenjamin Jackson, a doctoral student in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University, has been awarded a fellowship by the U.S. Department of Energy’s, or DOE, Office of Science Graduate Student Research, or SCGSR, program.
He is among 80 other graduate students who will receive funding to conduct part of their graduate thesis research in residence at a DOE national laboratory. As part of this honor, Jackson will spend three months, starting in June, working at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, or PNNL, in Richland, Washington. | |

Auburn researcher works to improve capabilities for Brain-Computer InterfaceSupported by a $175,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, or NSF, a researcher in Auburn University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics is working to improve the capabilities of Brain-Computer Interface, or BCI, an advancement that has wide potential for helping people with severe motor impairments, detecting and diagnosing health issues and providing new interfaces for gaming and other uses.

COSAM’s Pre-Health Programs Office holds MCAT and DAT Boot Camps, prepares Auburn students for assessment successThe Pre-Health Programs Office in the College of Sciences and Mathematics’ Office of Student Services sponsored boot camps on May 9-12 to help Auburn students prepare to take the Medical College Admission Test, or MCAT, and Dental Admission Test, or DAT.
Held in the Mell Classrooms Building, the boot camp sessions were open to all Auburn students, with many of the participating students majoring in biomedical sciences. Twenty-nine students participated in the MCAT Boot Camp, and 13 students participated in the DAT Boot Camp. | |
