Elementary students learn about amazing animals at Science Matters campYoung scientists were abuzz around Auburn University’s campus as they learned about spectacular creatures at Science Matters’ first camp of the season held June 13-17.
Science Matters is a summer enrichment day camp for elementary students rising to first through sixth grades that gives campers the chance to explore wide-ranging topics in science through hands-on, exploratory activities while receiving outstanding education from experienced Auburn science instructors. | |

First-year Auburn students excel in first-time research courseNot many research opportunities are available to first-year undergraduate students. However, a pilot class in spring 2022 BIOL 1021 – CURE: The Principles of Biology Lab has proven that the new college students can excel in both the classroom and in the laboratory.
“Students in this course have the chance to get hands-on experience with all aspects of research, which will help them as they earn their degree as well as their prepare for future careers in the field of STEM,” said Min Zhong, senior lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences. | |

SCORE’s VEX GO and VEX IQ Competition Camps engage elementary students in STEM and robotics education, foster critical thinking and teamwork skillsRising second through fourth grade students spent an enriching week at two of Auburn University’s Southeastern Center of Robotics Education, or SCORE, robotics camps, learning varied levels of robotics—from identifying basic parts to analyzing design for competition success.
Held June 13-17 at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, VEX GO camp was held for rising second and third graders, and VEX IQ Competition Camp was held for rising fourth and fifth graders. Each camp provided students an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, fundamentals based on the appropriate grade level. | |
