Two Auburn mathematicians travel to Mexico to develop partnership with the Autonomous University of Coahuila

Nedret Billor, Coordinator of Statistics and Data Science Programs, Professor of statistics at Auburn University, and Yanzhao Cao, the Don Logan Endowed Chair of Mathematics, Professor, Graduate Program Officer, and Associate Chair at Auburn University, traveled to the Autonomous University of Coahuila, or UAdeC, in May 2022 to initiate conversations about opportunities for academic collaboration as well as joint research projects between the two academic institutions.

COSAM alumnus Daniel Golden named Vice President and Global Head of Research, Discovery and Breakthrough Innovation at Elanco Animal Health

Daniel Golden, who graduated from Auburn in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology, received a promotion at the beginning of this year to serve as Vice President and Global Head of Research, Discovery and Breakthrough Innovation at Elanco Animal Health.

Physics faculty member discusses significance of James Webb Telescope images, technology

Space exploration and scientists’ quest to understand the cosmos received a major jolt earlier this month when the first images from the revolutionary James Webb Telescope were shared with the world. The $10 billion telescope is expected to provide new opportunities to scientists and deepen humankind’s understanding of the realm of space. Melissa Halford, a lecturer in Auburn University’s Department of Physics in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, or COSAM, took some time to discuss the transcendent images that recently were released to the public, how the telescope may help us understand the history of our universe and how this latest advancement in astronomy might affect educators’ curriculums going forward.
