COSAM Graduation Marshal overcomes challenges to make her dad proud and give back to her communityCandace Jones, a biomedical sciences major, will represent COSAM and carry the flag into commencement on Saturday, Aug. 5. However, her Auburn story ends with her walking across the stage at the Neville Arena while the very person who believed in her the most will not physically be in attendance.
As a freshman her Auburn story was just beginning, and the first chapter began with immense tragedy.
Jones lost her father.
“My dad was my biggest supporter,” she said.

COSAM graduate earns Brad Davis SEC Community Service Leader of Year award and shares advice for future physiciansSara Pacer ’23, a graduate from Auburn University with a major in biomedical sciences in COSAM, begins her studies at the University of Alabama Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine.
Pacer received the prestigious 2022-2023 Brad Davis Southeastern Conference Community Service Leader of the Year award. From 2019 through 2023, she participated in both cross country plus track and field at Auburn University.
“In COSAM, my professors and classes prepared me for medical school,” said Pacer. “They were always available to go over concepts and discuss projects in greater detail.” | |||
