CEU Certification, Reporting, & Transcripts

Auburn University outreach units, school and college departments, and faculty document their outreach activities through the Outreach Information Technology and CEU Office. This office houses Auburn University's permanent records on continuing education programs and provides official copies of Continuing Educations Units (CEUs) awarded to qualified participants. They also maintain information on all outreach activities.

Continuing Education Unit
Policy and Reporting Guidelines

Per the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accreditation criteria and university policy, all outreach activities and continuing education programs should be reported by the program chair or faculty member through their dean/director. All activities designed to offer CEU awards to participants in non-credit instructional activities must be reported to us in advance for review and approval by the university CEU Officer. After the activity, a record of all participants eligible for CEU awards must be reported to our office. For more information contact Outreach Information Technology and CEU Office at outreachreporting@auburn.edu.

Outreach Activity/CEU Reporting Form

Auburn University awards continuing education units (CEUs) to eligible individuals who have registered for and attended all segments of approved outreach noncredit instructional programs, and who meet all learning objectives stated for those programs.

Auburn University adheres to the guidelines and criteria for noncredit continuing education programming set forth by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). These define continuing education units as:

  • One CEU is equal to ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education activity under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.

Many individuals participate in continuing education programs for job advancement or as required in their profession for maintenance of certifications or licenses. Auburn University maintains records on approved CEU awards for eligible individuals as an acknowledgment of their continuing education experience. All participant CEU records and personal information are maintained under strict guidelines for security and privacy of the individual; records and other communications are transmitted by secure and confidential means.

For a $10.00 fee, an official copy of your CEU record may be obtained upon request by completing the Auburn University Non-Credit CEU Transcript Order Form.
