Asthma is a chronic condition causing wheezing, difficulty breathing, or coughing. Healthcare providers screen for asthma and assess the child, medications, and asthma action plan.
More children with asthma are learning to control their asthma using an asthma action plan. Such a plan helps children use medicine properly and avoid asthma triggers like tobacco smoke, pet dander, and air pollution.
