Students must apply both to Southern Union State Community College in addition to applying specifically to the Path to the Plains program. Applicants may be asked to complete an interview if selected. Once accepted, students are asked to submit information to Auburn University also. Students are admitted to both institutions and are required to attend orientation sessions on both campuses.
Tuition and fees are assessed based on Southern Union’s tuition and fee structure. During the concurrent enrollment terms, students completing courses at Auburn are assessed Southern Union tuition rates.
Students will register for courses through the regular registration processes at Southern Union and must meet with a program advisor to ensure proper placement in classes. Students are registered in their Auburn courses by the Auburn University Path to the Plains liaison.
Path to the Plains students will have access to Auburn University academic resources including the RBD Library, the Office of Academic Support and tutoring services, Office of University Writing, academic advising, Adobe Creative Cloud and Office 365. Path to the Plains students do not have access to Tiger Transit, athletic tickets and events, and the student recreation center until they transfer fully to Auburn following the concurrent enrollment semesters.
Southern Union will evaluate and award eligible financial aid to all eligible students in the pathway program. When applying for federal aid, please use SUSCC Title IV code 001040. Students are expected to abide by financial aid policies and procedures set by Southern Union. Students who receive financial aid are required to use a provided form to provide Auburn University proof of attendance in their Auburn University courses.
Auburn University scholarships are not available until students transfer fully to Auburn following the concurrent enrollment terms. Once students are full-time Auburn University students, they are eligible to apply for scholarships. More information on Auburn University scholarships is available here.
