WEB PROJECT CONTEST
In an effort to support creative and innovative uses of technology in higher education,
the College of Sciences and Mathematics is sponsoring a contest to develop web based
instructional material.
Specifically, the Web Project aims to:
- Advance the teaching and learning goals of the College by using Internet tools.
- Encourage faculty and teaching assistants to use information technology in
innovative ways.
- Enhance students' learning experiences.
- Improve students' information technology literacy skills.
- Share source codes for Web documents.
Eligibility:
- COSAM Faculty
- COSAM Graduate Students
Participants are encouraged to form partnerships or teams to work on the
Web Project. Members in the partnerships/teams do not have to be within the same
group, identified above, or within the same discipline (i.e. faculty and graduate
students may be partners/team members).
Awards:
The panel of judges will review the Web Projects and will determine the
winner. A $1,000 award will be given to the winning team for distribution among team
members.
Judging Criteria:
Web Projects will be judged on the following items:
- Innovation/Creativity
- Originality
- Pedagogically Sound Methodology
In the rare case that no entry exceeds an acceptable standard, the judges
reserve the right to reduce or withhold the award.
Schedule:
- Participants may begin working on their projects at anytime after they
have notified Dan MacDougall of their
intent to participate. Submission of a brief synopsis of the project is encouraged.
- January 12, 1998--Deadline for submitting a notice of intent to participate.
- March 2, 1998--Participants must have their completed web project posted on a server and
submitted an electronic copy of the web project to Daniel MacDougall.
- April 6, 1998--Winners will be announced via the web.
General Information:
- Periodic announcements will be made as necessary during the contest on the
announcement page.
- Assistance can be arranged for interested participants on an as needed basis.
