Science Cafe: The Waters Around US: Protecting Local Water Sources.

Time: Nov 15, 2016 (06:30 PM)
Location: Mama Mochas Coffee Emporium

Details:

On Tuesday, November 15, the College of Sciences and Mathematics Office of Outreach will host the AU Science Café at Mama Mochas Coffee Emporium at 414 S. Gay Street from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The AU Science Cafe is a monthly event that provides an opportunity for the community to discuss cutting-edge scientific topics with an Auburn University scientist.

The November AU Science Cafe will feature guest scientist Rasika Ramesh, a graduate student in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. Ramesh will discuss, “The Waters Around US: Protecting Local Water Sources.”

Ramesh will emphasize the growing importance of remaining conscientious about the waters that feed our community. She will highlight increasing industrialization, concerns about climate change, and big water contamination stories like the Flint, Michigan, water crisis. She will also recommend available technology that can be used to test local water and answer questions.

No scientific background is required to participate in The AU Science Cafe, and no question is too silly to ask. For more information, contact Josh King at 334-734-1182, or by email at josh.king@auburn.edu.
