College of Sciences and Mathematics hosts South’s BEST Robotics championship

BEST Robotics is a national robotics program for middle and high school students that culminates in one of three regional championships, including South’s BEST, which is hosted by the College of Sciences and Mathematics and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. “BEST” stands for “Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology,” and the South’s BEST championship is headquartered at Auburn University. This year the championship featured the top 55 teams from Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

Liles receives Alabama Innovation Fund award for efficient energy development and catfish vaccine research

Mark Liles, associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, is one of two Auburn University professors who have been awarded Alabama Innovation Fund grants through the Alabama Department of Commerce for research involving efficient energy systems and catfish vaccines.

Moss named winner of 2015 Magic Touch award by Invitrogen

Tony Moss, associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, has been selected to receive the 2015 Magic Touch award by Invitrogen, a company known for its genetic engineering products. The Magic Touch award recognizes outstanding advising of graduate students.

COSAM advisor receives Outstanding Advisor Award

Meredith Jones, advisor in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, has been selected to receive the annual Auburn University Outstanding Advising Award - New Advisor Category. Jones will be honored at a ceremony in February. She has been with COSAM Student Services since May 2014. She received an undergraduate degree from COSAM in biomedical sciences and then attended Clemson University where she received a master of education with a focus in counselor education.
