Red, White and Blueberry Bash Brings Community Together

Residents of all ages enjoyed the first Red, White and Blueberry Bash held at the Donald E. Davis Arboretum on June 29. From a blueberry recipe contest to a little red wagon parade, the community celebrated everything red, white and blue at this new event. Art, music, food trucks, and blueberries from plants to tasty pints were all part of the fun.

Auburn Researches Working with ISS Plasma Laboratory

COSAM's Associate Dean for Research and Graduate studies is in the control center in Toulouse, France, conducting research with Lori Scott and Jeremiah Williams. They were working on an experiment with the PK-4 (Plasmakristall-4) microgravity lab, which is a plasma laboratory on the International Space Station.

Vulcan Materials Company Donates $5,000

Vulcan Materials Company is a long-time supporter of Auburn University’s College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) which includes fields of studies in geology and geography. For over 20 years, Vulcan has provided an annual academic scholarship to five COSAM students. Notasulga Quarry Plant Manager Keith Griggs recently met with the Department of Geosciences Chair, Dr. Ming-Kuo Lee and made a formal donation from the Company Foundation.

Dr. Dennis Bodewits, associate professor in the Department of Physics in the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM), leads a team that has just received six orbits of time to use the Hubble Space Telescope. This time, approximately nine hours, will allow Dr. Bodewits to continue his research observing objects in the solar system.
