“I am glad we could step-up and help our local hospital,” explained Mike Brackin, manager of building planning and systems for the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM).

Brackin and John Goodman, assistant building manager, dropped off essential supplies including face masks, face shields, aprons, goggles, and Tyvek suits to East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC).

“It is important to help those who need our support most,” said Goodman.

Brackin and Goodman took personal protective equipment and medical supplies from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology Labs, and the Department of Geosciences over to help East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC) faced with a shortage of items during the spread of COVID-19.

Additionally, COSAM provided lunch for hospital employees. Fifty meals were delivered and distributed by EAMC administration.

“As a college, we want to help front-line medical staff and members of our community,” shared Dean Giordano. “We are educating the next generation of medical professionals, so COSAM is showing its students that giving back is critical during this time.”
