Leading planetary scientist receives SEC travel award to study meteorites at Auburn University

Julia Cartwright, an assistant professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Alabama, is the recipient of a 2022-2023 SEC Faculty Travelers award to conduct research on meteorites at Auburn University in collaboration with Bill Hames, a professor in the Department of Geosciences at Auburn University.

On November 18, over 100 high school students from Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) competed in the first Hyundai Initiative for Robotics Excellence, or HIRE, high school robotics tournament held at LAMP High School. The competition was a culminating milestone made possible by a $78,800 grant from Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) and partnership between HMMA, MPS and Auburn University’s Southeastern Center of Robotics Education (SCORE) to establish robotics teams and education at all Montgomery public middle and high schools.

DMS professor Schenck awarded a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship at the University of Oxford

Hal Schenck has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship at the University of Oxford for the coming spring. The award is used by UK institutions “to invite an eminent researcher from overseas for an extended stay in the UK to enhance the knowledge and skills of academic staff or the student body within the host institution.”
