During the second week of Southeastern Center of Robotics Education’s (SCORE) summer camps, participants were challenged to work together so they could compete with their robots. Entering second and third grade students built VEX GO robots and applied the engineering design process as well as math and science skills needed for continuous improvement of their design.

STEM Outreach: Science Matters camp engages students to learn about the moon and beyond

Students in Science Matters, a summer enrichment camp held at Auburn University and hosted by the STEM Outreach Center in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, learn about exciting STEM topics, and engage in hands-on activities all summer long. During the week of June 5 – 9, over 80 students in grades one to six  engaged in fun-filled space-themed field trips, activities and guest speakers.

Amy Huang receives an NSF grant

The Dr. Dean G. Hoffman Endowed Graduate Award has been established.

  The Dr. Dean G. Hoffman Endowed Graduate Award has been established by Dr. Hoffman’s family in his honor. The first award will be made in Fall 2023. The endowment agreement states   This endowment will be served in the spirit of Dr. Hoffman and his mentors, whose belief is that mathematics is a social practice and that it is imperative for mathematicians to collaborate in-person with other mathematicians around the world. Thus, this endowment will be awarded annually to a graduate student in Discrete Mathematics at Auburn University who is on their mathematical adventure.

Study reveals honey bee nest structure is surprisingly adaptive, resilient
