Dr. Elizabeth Ivy Quansah earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Auburn University (AU), received College/University Teaching Certificate from AU, and holds an MBA in Management from Indiana University (IU).
Dr. Quansah is the Founding Director of AU Outreach Global, an office within the Division of University Outreach. The mission of Outreach Global is to provide opportunities for international engagement, culture emersion experiences, capacity training for global partners, and contributions towards community development across the globe. The office also provides affordable, short-term service-learning experiences to students who cannot afford traditional study abroad programs and for faculty members and staff, a gateway to explore global research and community outreach.
Elizabeth has developed several global service-learning programs in selected countries in Africa, Europe, North and South America. The annual service-learning programs focus on the areas of education, health care, social services, and community outreach. The Outreach Global’s flagship health care program in Ghana, West Africa, and Greece, Europe, has served more than 5,000 patients. The education service-learning program has served over 400 students in Ghana and Tanzania, East Africa. Since the office's inception in 2016, over 120 AU students and more than 25 faculty and staff have volunteered their expertise to the service-learning and capacity building programs. Dr. Quansah has trained more than 700 global partners (both on-line and in person) in the areas of branding, marketing, public speaking, and train-of-the trainers. She is also the creator of the annual Global Community Day Festival for the cities of Auburn and Opelika and their surrounding cities, and she developed the GlobalConnect Summer Camp, as well as the Fulbright In the Classroom (FIC) for high schools and other non-academic institutions in in Lee County to bring the global experience to Alabamians.
Dr. Quansah has presented at several conferences including APLU, Alabama Counseling Association, Southern Regional Faculty and Southern Regional Faculty and Instructional Development Consortium (SRFIDC), The Mentoring Network for African Women in Academia (MTAWA), UPCEA, NASPA, and AU Office of International Programs conferences and many more. She is an instructor at Auburn's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and has been the recipient of numerous grants from the U.S. Embassy in Cotonou, the Alabama Office of Minority Affairs (AOMA), and the Brother's Brother Foundation for in-kind health supplies.
Prior to her work at AU, Dr. Quansah served as the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Tuskegee University, Alabama. She has also served as the West African Young People's Coordinator for the World Council of Churches, a subsidiary of the United Nations (UN).
Dr. Quansah is the recipient of the University of Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) National 2020 International Leadership Award and the 2019 UPCEA South Region Conference Emerging Leader Award for her innovative approach to global education and service learning. She is a board member of the Alabama Chapter, Fulbright Association, and the Co-Founder and Co-President of the Joseph and Elizabeth Quansah (JEQ) Foundation.
