Michelle Worosz directs the College of Agriculture’s M.S. program in Rural Sociology. The Program emphasizes the development of scientific and technical knowledge to evaluate problems faced by rural communities. Students focus on community sustainability; environmental justice; natural resource dependency; and laws and regulations that shape food, agriculture, and water systems. Her specific research interests include the co-development of knowledge about climate resilience in agrifood systems, especially in the context of food safety and in small- and medium-scaled production. As part of the NRT, she teaches Sociology of Natural Resources and the Environment (RSOC 6650), in which students conduct a semester-long research project on the ways in which the media socially constructs climate science.
