Ansleigh Bright is from Knoxville, Tennessee, where she was born and raised. She recently graduated from East Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Geology and Environment. She is currently at Auburn pursuing a Masters in Geography under the advisement of Dr. Jake Nelson. Ansleigh is very passionate about issues pertaining to environmental justice. She conducted undergraduate research for a semester long project analyzing water quality on a local Tennessee farm, particularly the water quality from run-off. Her research today focuses on spatially analyzing greenspaces in Atlanta, Georgia in order to determine both accessibility as well as greenspace quality in correlation to low-income and minority communities within the area. Ansleigh plans to conduct her research working with ArcGIS to create maps to display greenspaces in Atlanta. She further plans to gauge greenspace quality by creating a rubric that assesses spaces both in proximity to and away from low-income and minority communities in order to assess if there is in fact a disparity in both accessibility and quality of these spaces for these groups in Atlanta. She hopes that through her research she can bring to light one of the everyday issues faced by low income and minority groups in many metropolitan and rural areas. Ansleigh is excited to see what her future research has to reveal. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hiking, which comes naturally as she grew up right next to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This past summer, she spent her time enjoying the beautiful Montana landscape while working at Yellowstone National Park.
