Matt Galinger is continuing his graduate studies at Auburn University, where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Sciences. He is currently a Masters student in the Geology department under the advisement of Dr. Richard Vachula and Dr. Thomas Cullen. His current research is examining the role of wildfires in the late Cretaceous period as well as the general environmental conditions using charcoal morphometry. This research has never been done before and has applications in the scientific community. His research also has implications in predicting the role of future wildfires as anthropogenic climate change becomes more severe. Matt Galinger is from Richmond, Kentucky. His interests outside of academia include hiking, reading, and cooking.
What most excites me about the Auburn NRT is the realistic approach to climate change solutions. Focusing on communicating climate issues to everyday people is where the most effective work can be done.
