Haylie is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Earth System Science under the advisement of Dr. Karen McNeal. Most recently Haylie has been working in the private sector as an Environmental Intelligence Analyst, where she served as a subject matter expert for environment-related events for business clients. She would monitor and forecast a variety of natural disasters in real time across the globe to effectively communicate in layman’s terms with clients about travel plans or possible impacts to assets. After working in corporate risk assessment, Haylie decided to pursue her PhD and join the NRT project to see if she could do something proactive about the climate change problem instead of reactive. Haylie completed her MS in Geography at the University of Georgia, where she studied the impacts of atmospheric teleconnections on Arctic blocking patterns. During her time at the University of Georgia she developed her love for teaching and geoscience education research after serving as a teaching assistant. She obtained her BS in Meteorology/Climatology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she also completed minors in Mathematics and Physics. She is originally from East Brunswick, New Jersey.

The AU Climate Resilience NRT program will assist me in my professional career by helping to improve my communication and presentation skills."
