Savanna is a PhD student from LaGrange, GA. She received a Bachelors in Biology from Berry College in Georgia and a Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga with thesis work focused on ecological drivers of plant species rarity. During this time she also interned with WaterWays, a local watershed restoration and education nonprofit. After graduation she held government and private-sector positions as a transportation ecologist. Her current research explores drivers of cyanotoxin production in urban sub-tropical lakes, nutrient dynamics, and the intersection of paleolimnology and the public (i.e., outreach, education) under the advisement of Dr. Matthew Waters.
"The AU Climate Resilience NRT program is an opportunity to consider the human dimensions of my research and to apply my research questions and findings across multiple disciplines."
