Savanna is a PhD student from LaGrange, GA. She received a Bachelors in Biology from Berry College in Georgia and a Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga with thesis work focused on ecological drivers of plant species rarity. During this time she also interned with WaterWays, a local watershed restoration and education nonprofit. After graduation she held government and private-sector positions as a transportation ecologist. Her current research explores drivers of cyanotoxin production in urban sub-tropical lakes, nutrient dynamics, and the intersection of paleolimnology and the public (i.e., outreach, education) under the advisement of Dr. Matthew Waters.
