Research and Teaching Interests
My current PhD research focuses on understanding the fate, transport, and remediation of inorganic contaminants in groundwater. This interdisciplinary work involves advanced laboratory techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) to unravel the complex geochemical behavior of contaminants in groundwater system and develop effective remediation strategies.
Previously, I completed my M.S. at Auburn University, where I investigated petrofacies and detrital geochronology of the Lower Pennsylvanian Pottsville Formation in the Northern Appalachian Basin of Pennsylvania. I analyzed detrital modes and heavy minerals within the siliciclastic strata to reconstruct the tectonic settings, weathering processes, and post-depositional alterations. Additionally, I performed laser 40Ar/39Ar dating on detrital muscovite to determine cooling ages and conducted electron microprobe analyses to characterize mineral chemistry.
