  • The International Agreements Committee includes Research Security, Legal Counsel, Audit and Compliance, Office of International Programs and the SACSCOC liaison.

  • Once an international agreement proposal form is submitted, the college/unit designee has one work week to review and vote. Upon college/unit approval, the International Agreements Committee also has one work week to review and vote. Total, a proposal is allotted two work weeks for review.
  • Once an international agreement document is submitted for phase 2 review (already received proposal approval, phase 1), the International Agreements Committee has one work week to review and vote.

  • A sponsored program at Auburn University refers to any project, research or educational activity that receives external funding through grants, contracts or agreements.
  • Characteristics of a Sponsored Program:
    • Externally Funded: The program must be funded by an entity outside of Auburn University
    • Specific Purpose: The program is established for specific research, instructional or service objective
    • Obligations: The funding comes with conditions such as deliverables, reporting and compliance requirements

  • No, this process is strictly for proposals and agreements with international partners.

  • No, the Legal Counsel is part of the International Agreements Committee and will therefore review all proposals and agreements upon submission.

  • No, co-investigators do not need to go through the process if the agreement and funding are from a domestic partner.
