How does it work?
Our remote P2P option is available through two Alabama community colleges at this time: Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in south Alabama, and Jefferson State Community College based in Birmingham, AL. This program is designed for students whose long-term goals match one of our available majors. These students complete general education classes toward an associate’s degree at one of these community colleges during their first two years of college while also taking at least one course in their major online through Auburn each semester.
Success Guides determine which classes students take at Auburn and which are taken at the partner institution, based on the student’s intended degree program. Upon completion of the designated coursework and program requirements, the student transfers to Auburn to complete their chosen bachelor’s degree. During concurrent enrollment, all courses are charged the community college tuition rate.
The Path to the Plains program provides academic support to students throughout their time at the partner institution and helps prepare them for a successful transition to Auburn.
Is Path to the Plains right for me?
If you are an Alabama resident who has demonstrated motivation and perseverance, are interested in one of our participating majors, and are interested in attending a community college during your first two years of college, Path to the Plains may be a great fit for you.
The goal of Path to the Plains (P2P) is to provide an affordable pathway to Auburn University by allowing students to take Auburn courses related to their intended major while completing core coursework at a partner community college. Through this model, students gain early access to Auburn resources and academic experiences while benefiting from the lower cost of community college tuition.
While P2P offers a structured and affordable route to Auburn, participation in the program is not required for transfer admission. Because online pathway options are currently limited to select majors, some students may find that an independent transfer plan is a better fit. In those cases, we will work with you to ensure you have the appropriate coursework, curriculum guidance, and transfer planning needed to successfully transition to Auburn.
Whether you transfer through Path to the Plains or pursue an independent transfer pathway, both options provide a clear and successful route to Auburn University. If one of our available P2P majors aligns with your goals, we would love to help you get started. And if it does not, we are equally committed to helping you create a transfer plan that keeps you on track toward earning your Auburn degree.

Cost and Eligibility
Program participants pay tuition and fees based on the partner community college’s fee schedule for all courses they are enrolled in – whether at Auburn or the partner community college – during concurrent enrollment.
-
All tuition billing during the concurrent enrollment terms, for both the community college and Auburn coursework, is handled through the community college.
-
Other Auburn campus expenses are billed directly through the AU Ebill (this includes textbook charges, for instance).
Once a student transfers fully to Auburn, their tuition and fees will be based on Auburn’s tuition and fee structure.
