The Miller Writing Center (MWC) offers face-to-face, videoconference, and asynchronous peer tutoring to all writers for all kinds of writing, such as:

Essays for composition
Lab reports for chemistry
PowerPoint presentations for economics

Miller Writing Center Appointments

The Miller Writing Center is located on the second floor of RBD Library. It is open for spring semester from January 16 to April 26, with appointments available on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday–Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The writing center is closed March 3-8 for Spring Break.


To make an appointment, visit AU Access and log in using the Miller Writing Center icon. Once you are in Advise Assist, follow these steps:

  • Under "What type of appointment do you need?", select "Miller Writing Center."
  • Under "Service":
    • If you want a synchronous consultation (i.e., meet with a consultant face-to-face or on Zoom), select any of the services under "Writing Consultation," "Citation Consultation," or "Language Support."
    • If you want an asynchronous consultation (i.e., get written feedback on your project), select any of the services under "Offline/Asynchronous Tutoring."
  • Under "Date," select your desired appointment date.
  • Click "Find Appointments."
  • Select your desired appointment time.
  • On the "Review Appointment Details and Confirm" page:
    • Under "How would you like to meet?", select "In-Person" for a face-to-face meeting in RBD Library or "Virtual" for a Zoom meeting. (If you selected an asynchronous service, your consultation automatically shows as "Virtual.")
    • In the comments field, tell your consultant about your project.
  • Click "Schedule."
  • If your consultation is asynchronous, follow the link provided in Advise Assist to upload your writing project before the appointment's start time.


By making an appointment, clients agree to adhere to the following policies and guidelines: MWC Policies and Guidelines Word Doc, MWC Policies and Guidelines PDF. Please note that if you are a caregiver, your dependent is welcome to accompany you to your appointment.
