I have taught a variety of courses in the area of Plant Biology and Molecular Genetics at universities in India and the USA. After coming to Auburn University, I have taught Principles of Biology (Majors), Principles of Biology (Honors), Plant Biology, Introductory Molecular Genetics, Recombinant DNA and Gene Expression, Plant Gene Expression, Special topics courses (Molecular Biology of Plant Development, Plant’s Responses to the Environment, and Stress Proteins), Undergraduate seminars (Transgenics, Regulatory RNA, Protein sorting, Central dogma paradoxes, siRNA, Recent Molecular Biology Nobel Laureates), and Graduate and undergraduate research.
My doctoral research was in the area of regulation of gene expression in Aspergillus nidulans. Primary area of my research for over three decades included cellular and molecular response to a variety of stress in plant and fungi, development of edible vaccines against viral diseases of poultry, and genetic transformation of edible fungi.
