Field trip of Society for Conservation Biology - DBS

Time: Oct 18, 2013 (06:00 PM)
Location: Gulf Coast Zoo, Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, Splinter Hill Bog

Details:
SCB will take a 2-night field trip to Coastal Alabama. We’ll leave late Friday afternoon, spending the night in a house at The Nature Conservancy’s Splinter Hill Bog Reserve. Saturday we’ll meet former AU student (and former SCB member) Jessica Larsen for a behind-the-scenes look at the Gulf Coast Zoo (where Jessica now works). Afterwards, we’ll drive to Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge where SCB Faculty Advisor Dr. Bob Boyd will talk about research conducted by BioSci’s Dr. Mike Wooten on the endangered Alabama Beach Mouse on the Refuge. We then return to Splinter Hill to spend the night, getting up Sunday morning to explore the pitcher plant bogs on the reserve before heading back to Auburn. Please contact our President (Pia Kulakowski: pmk0001@tigermail.auburn.edu) for information about the trip!
